Membership

Membership

The individual membership for ISCH is valid for one/three/five calendar year(s), depending on the option chosen below. It includes two online issues of the bi-annual Cultural History journal, and the possibility to join the annual gathering (which, nonetheless, requires an additional conference fee). In addition, members are entitled to a discount on all EUP books and journal subscriptions, and to other discounts occasionally offered by other publishers.

Institutions can also become members. For further information about institutional membership, please contact the secretary.

Individual Membership Prices:

The 2026 individual membership fee is 50 Euro (waged scholars) or 30 Euro (unwaged scholars, PhD students and retired scholars). The 3-year discounted membership for 2026-2028 is 135 € (waged) or 81 € (unwaged). The 5-year discounted membership for 2026-2030 is 220 € (only available to waged scholars). All memberships are e-journal only since the journal became fully online in 2022.

It is possible to pay the membership fee online with a credit/debit card, via PayPal, or with a bank transfer. Starting from 2026, a surcharge of 2€ will be added to credit/debit card payments and PayPal payments in order to counter the additional fees that these payment methods create for us

Bank transfer:

New and returning members from the Euro area are encouraged to pay their membership fee with a bank transfer directly into the Society’s bank account because this method does not create additional fees. Note that the Society’s bank account changed in September 2024 and the old account number with Handelsbanken will not work any longer. When sending the payment, you may see that the receiver of the payment is “Kulttuurihistorian seura ry” instead of the ISCH. That is alright, it is the Finnish daughter organisation of ISCH to whom the bank account is registered. The payment details are:

  • Recipient: International Society for Cultural History / Kulttuurihistorian seura ry.
  • Bank name: Oma Säästöpankki
  • BIC code: ITELFIHH
  • Account number: FI6841080013045367

Please use your name and email address as the reference, or send this information to the secretary at isch@culthist.net. We will send you the membership confirmation and journal access token to the given email address within two weeks.

Credit/debit card

Update 6 February 2026: Online Payments are temporarily disabled. Please try again 9 February, or contact the ISCH treasurer.

PayPal payment

When using PayPal, you may see that the receiver of the payment is “Kulttuurihistorian seura ry” instead of the ISCH. That is alright, it is the Finnish daughter organization of ISCH to whom the PayPal account is registered. Unless you give the secretary (isch@culthist.net) another email address, we will use the email address connected with your PayPal account for ISCH related communications (sending the newsletter and the Cultural History journal access token).

ISCH Membership (2€ transaction fee will be added)
